The 508 Coal™ microscope spectrometer is an advanced Vitrinite Reflectance Measurement System designed for the organic petrographic analysis using Standard Test Methodologies ISO 7404-5 and ASTM D2798.  This sophisticated system also has a very flexible design. The 508 Coal™ was developed anticipating the next generation of test protocols as well as for fluorescence microspectroscopy and micro-imaging.

In its basic configuration, bundled with CRAIC CoalPro™software, the 508 Coal™ vitrinite reflectance measurement system grades vitrinite coals using the ISO 7404 and ASTM D2798 standard test methods. However, the 508 Coal™ can also measure the full reflectance spectrum and the spectral fluorescence of coal, kerogen and petroleum source rock. Additionally, it can capture full color images: all this with the same instrument.

With no moving parts, the 508 Coal™ is durable and user friendly. Designed with reliability and speed in mind, the 508 Coal™ Vitrinite Reflectance Measurement system rapidly measures vitrinite reflectivity and also has the ability to do other types of spectroscopic and petrographic analysis and imaging. With this flexibility of design, it will easily comply with future changes in coal testing methods and your own experiments.

The 508 Coal™ Microscope Spectrophotometer can be configured to acquire spectra from the deep ultraviolet to the near infrared. It can be added to a microscope to acquire spectra and images in absorbance, reflectance, and fluorescence.
