Quartz Well slides from CRAIC Technologies™
CRAIC Technologies quartz wellslides are spectral grade and manufactured to the highest levels of quality.
Quartz wellslides are commonly used in UV-visible microspectroscopy and microscopy. This is because common glass slides and coverslips absorb UV light resulting in very little transmission below 340 nm. Quartz, on the other hand, transmits UV light with much greater efficiencies.
However, all quartz is not equal. As with anything, there are various grades and specifications. The most common quartz slides and coverslips use lower grade materials as they are not designed for deep UV microspectroscopy or microscopy. However, a spectroscopist needs all the UV light they can get... especially in the deep ultraviolet region where many materials exhibit some very unique features.
To the left is the transmittance spectra of CRAIC spectral grade quartz and quartz commonly used in microscope slides and coverslips. The purple line represents the type of quartz that is most commonly used to manufacture quartz slides and quartz coverslips. As is obvious, there is a dramatic drop in UV transmission of this material below 265 nm. This is one of the reasons so many scientists have difficulty with UV microspectroscopy between 200 to 265 nm when not using CRAIC quartz wellslides. The red line represents the optical grade quartz used by CRAIC Technologies in their quartz wellslides. The amount of UV transmitted is over 85% down to 200 nm.

Vitrinite Reflectance Standards
Vitrinite Reflectance Standards for use with the CRAIC Technologies vitrinite reflectance measurement systems.
CRAIC Technologies™ offers a variety of mono-crystalline prisms designed for calibration of vitrinite reflectance measurement microscope photometers, such as the GeoImage™ imaging photometer, at 546 nm. The materials of each prism varies so that the GeoImage™ system can be calibrated across a range.
When used with the CRAIC coal analysis software, CRAIC Vitrinite Reflectance Standards are part of an calibration procedure. They are simple to use and result in high quality vitrinite reflectance measurements that comply with ISO, ASTM and other international testing protocols for vitrinite coals. Call today for more information.

Get polarizers and analyzers with a custom fit to protect the spectroscopy optical components
Introduction
CRAIC Technologies™ offers both polarizers and analyzers with a UV-visible-NIR spectral range. Designed for spectroscopy and imaging applications, these polarizers and analyzers are fitted into custom holders that are designed to protect the optical component as well as to fit smoothly and easily into the optical path of the CRAIC Technologies instrument. Both rotating and fixed polarizers and analyzers are available and can be supplied either individually or as sets, depending upon your requirements.
WIth a spectral range from the deep UV to the near IR, CRAIC Technologies polarizers are available both for transmission and incident illumination optical paths.
Polarization Microspectroscopy
Spectroscopy of birefringent samples
Polarization microspectroscopy can yield a great deal of information about birefringent samples. Here is the spectrum of a dichroic fiber with both parallel and crossed polars. A great deal of information can be obtained by adding polarization microspectroscopy to your test protocol. |
Polarization Imaging
Imaging of birefringent samples
Polarization imaging can easily and rapidly differentiate between samples, delineate mechanical stress and even for contrast enhancement. |
