Quartz Well slides from CRAIC Technologies™

CRAIC Technologies quartz wellslides

CRAIC Technologies quartz well slides for microspectrophotometer and microspectrometer

CRAIC Technologies quartz wellslides are spectral grade and manufactured to the highest levels of quality.

Quartz wellslides are essential for UV-visible microspectroscopy and microscopy due to their superior UV light transmission compared to common glass slides and coverslips, which absorb UV light and transmit very little below 340 nm. Quartz, however, transmits UV light with far greater efficiency, making it the material of choice for such applications.

Not all quartz is created equal. There are various grades and specifications, and most commonly available quartz slides and coverslips use lower-grade materials unsuitable for deep UV microspectroscopy or microscopy. For spectroscopists, maximizing UV light transmission is crucial, especially in the deep ultraviolet region where many materials exhibit unique features.

Consider the transmittance spectra of CRAIC spectral grade quartz compared to that of commonly used quartz for microscope slides and coverslips. The purple line represents the lower-grade quartz typically used in standard slides and coverslips, showing a significant drop in UV transmission below 265 nm. This is a key reason many scientists face challenges with UV microspectroscopy in the 200 to 265 nm range when not using CRAIC quartz wellslides. In contrast, the red line represents the optical-grade quartz used by CRAIC Technologies in their wellslides, which transmits over 85% of UV light down to 200 nm.

Using CRAIC quartz wellslides ensures high UV light transmission, facilitating accurate and efficient UV microspectroscopy and microscopy in the deep ultraviolet region.
